From first-time camper to founder
Like many, I discovered the outdoors when I needed it most. In 2020, after months inside, I craved space to breathe both physically and mentally. So I stepped outside.
What started as short walks turned into hikes. I explored trails like the Appalachian, South Mountain Reservation, and the Crystal Caves. Then came camping, RV shows, outdoor expos, and events like the GoPro Mountain Games. The more time I spent outside, the more I realized it wasn’t just a hobby. It was a way to feel like myself again.
That’s what led me to create Oaktiv. I wanted to build gear that helps others reconnect with nature—and with themselves.
